In terms of sales, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is among the bestselling Maruti Suzuki cars in the segment and country. The primary reason is because of the mileage it offers, despite being a seven-seater. It is popular among private buyers and fleet operators. The CNG, which comes with the same petrol engine that powers the non-CNG version. It also boasts mild-hybrid technology, unlike the Triber.
The Renault Triber, on the other hand, misses out on a CNG version as well as a mild-hybrid technology. It is also smaller in overall length and wheelbase than its indigenous counterpart. The Triber is a sub-four-metre MUV, while the Ertiga is 4395mm long.
Among Renault cars in India, the Triber is the only MUV, which is on offer. In contrast, Maruti Suzuki also has two three-row MUVs on offer but soon they will have three offerings in total in the MUV segment. There is also a difference in their pricing- the Ertiga demands a premium over the Renault Triber. That said, the Renault Triber’s price starts from Rs 6.33 lakh, while the Maruti Ertiga’s price starts from Rs 8.64 lakh. All are ex-showroom prices.
So, let’s see how does the Ertiga stacks with the Renault Triber.
Dimensions
Let’s start with the Renault Triber. As mentioned earlier, this MUV is a sub-four-metre car. It has a length of 3991mm, a width of 1739mm, and a height of 1643mm. The wheelbase of 2636mm. It is also lighter than the Ertiga, as it has a kerb weight of 947kg.
On the other hand, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has a length of 4395mm, a width of 1735mm, a height of 1690mm, and it sits on a wheelbase of 2740mm. Except with a marginal difference in width, the Ertiga is dimensionally bigger from all proportions. It has a kerb weight of 1150kg.

Specifications
For starters, you should know that the Ertiga is based on the Maruti Suzuki in-house designed HEARTECT platform. It can be had in petrol and CNG versions. The CNG is coupled with the same engine as the non-CNG version. However, as for the figures, this MUV is powered by a standard 1.5-litre (1462cc) K15C, four-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, petrol engine, which is tuned to churn out 102 bhp at 6000 rpm and 136.8 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. It sends power to the front wheels via a standard five-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Last but not least, this 1.5-litre engine has a mild hybrid technology.
Engine

On the other hand, the Renault Triber is based on the same CMF-A+ platform as other Renault cars: the Kwid and the Kiger. It also underpins the Nissan Magnite. However, the French sub-four-metre MUV is solely powered by a 1.0-litre Energy (999cc) naturally-aspirated, petrol engine that can produce 71 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm.
It doesn’t have a mild hybrid technology nor a turbo variant on offer. However, as per sources, this MUV has a high chance to get an optional turbocharged petrol engine. It could be the Renault Kiger’s turbo engine, though.
As for the transmission, it has a standard five-speed manual gearbox and an optional AMT gearbox.

In parallel, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga’s mileage ranges between 20.3 km/l and 26.11 km/kg. These are ARAI-certified mileage figures.
