Renault Kiger vs Tata Nexon: Key Differences
If you may not know this, the Renault Kiger is a direct rival to the Tata Nexon. It’s tacit that both sub-four-metre vehicles share similarities in terms of dimensions, features and pricing. The main difference that makes the indigenous car stand out from the Renault Kiger is the availability of a diesel engine. There are, however, several Tata cars that cater to diesel-oriented buyers. Not long ago, Tata Motors also made a foray into the CNG and EV segments.
On the contrary, the French car manufacturer is also planning to go all-electric in the Indian market. At the same time, they have only petrol cars for the domestic market.
So, if you are confused between these two subcompact crossover SUVs, below are a few key differences that you should keep in mind. Let’s begin, then!
Specifications Comparison
As far as the specifications go, the Tata Nexon has two engine options: a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The turbocharged petrol unit is tuned to churn out 118 bhp at 5500 rpm and 170 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. Moreover, the turbocharged diesel engine can pump out 113 bhp at 3750 rpm and 260 Nm of peak torque at 1500 rpm. If you are a big fan of torque, you should check out the Nexon price section for the diesel variant.
On the contrary, the Renault Kiger only offers a petrol engine. It comes in both naturally aspirated (NA) and turbocharged versions, and that too in 1.0-litre only. The 999cc, three-cylinder, naturally-aspirated (NA) petrol unit can produce 71.01 bhp at 6250 rpm and 96 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm. Another option includes the same engine but with a turbo, which is capable of generating 98.63 bhp at 5000 rpm and 160 Nm of peak torque at 3600 rpm.
Speaking of this French subcompact crossover SUV, the naturally aspirated engine of the Kiger powers other Renault cars available in India.
Comparing the figures, the homegrown mini SUV is a clear winner here.
Besides that, as far as the transmission options go, the Renault Kiger is available with a standard five-speed manual gearbox and an optional five-speed AMT ( only for the naturally-aspirated unit), alongside a CVT option (only for the turbo variant). Moreover, you may have heard the phrase “less power means less consumption,” meaning the vehicle will be more fuel efficient. Similarly, the Renault Kiger is the vehicle that boasts a marginally better fuel efficiency than the Tata Nexon. You can, however, check the Kiger price on autoX.
Engine and Transmission

Please note that these mileage figures are based on feedback from the owners. In addition, the mileage may still vary with the local traffic conditions and individuals’ driving styles.
